Clean and Connected Communities grantees

I'm pleased to announce the grantees who are receiving funding through my Clean and Connected Communities program.

We will be funding all applicants whose submission materials were complete and projects met the basic requirements. We also limited the number of grants awarded in cases where an applicant or its partners submitted multiple projects. Because all eligible applicants are being awarded (other than the duplicates mentioned above), there will not be a community vote.

Elysian Valley Visioning Summit summary

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Elysian Valley Visioning Summit.

• Geography: Close to downtown, river, nature, green space, transportation. Also, secluded and isolated
• Demography/People: Multi-generational, neighborly, artists and craftspeople, diversity and tolerance, activists
• History: Architecture, paths that brought people to Elysian Valley (e.g. Chavez Ravine, Chinatown, freeway)

Silver Lake Visioning Summit

It was great to see everyone who came to the Silver Lake Visioning Summit on Saturday. Participants worked to define the community and identify priorities for the coming years.

• An involved community: Great groups, activists, Neighborhood Council and Associations
• Diverse population: Ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, socio-economic
• Compassionate: Tolerant, gives back

• Vibrant businesses and business corridor: Independent shops and restaurants, great cafes, locally-owned businesses
• Central location: Close to downtown and Hollywood
• Connected, walkable, bikeable, driveable place: Bike lanes, stair streets, sidewalks
• A beautiful neighborhood: Old trees and homes, lake, new library, Bellevue and Silver Lake Rec Centers
• Vibrant history: character, architecture, film studios

What is the Silver Lake Neighborhood Dream?
